Apple sets October 13 “Welcome home” date as smart-home rumors build
Apple’s New York invitation is confirmed. A display-equipped home hub, HomePod mini and Apple TV updates, and LG accessories remain reported possibilities, with prices and availability still unknown.
Apple has set October 13, 2026, for its next announcement under the theme “Welcome home.” A teaser shared by worldwide marketing chief Greg Joswiak establishes the date, while the devices expected to appear remain the subject of reporting and speculation. 1
A New York invitation, with the format still unclear
Apple has invited members of the media to an “Apple Experience” in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood at 9 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, October 13. MobileSyrup reporter Dean Daley confirms receiving an invitation with that date, time and theme. That provides direct confirmation of the in-person gathering. 2
A public livestream had not been confirmed at the time of this October 8 report. Apple’s official event page did not list an October broadcast, and 9to5Mac said an online presentation’s format and timing were unclear. The invitation’s start time should therefore be treated as the time for attendees. 3 1
The smart-home hardware being reported
The most closely watched possibility is a home hub with a display, often called “HomePad” in coverage. MacRumors, summarizing Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, describes a roughly six-inch square screen with tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Reported uses include controlling connected devices, video calls, music and photo displays. These details remain unconfirmed by Apple. 4
The reported tabletop design places the screen above a speaker base, recalling the shape of Apple’s old iMac G4. Gurman’s account also describes a front-facing camera, microphones and a screen that users can tilt. 4
The same reporting points to refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV models alongside the hub. The expected lineup fits the invitation’s home theme, but a suggestive slogan does not establish a product’s final name, technical specifications, price or availability. The photographs here show previously released hardware, rather than the rumored replacements. 4 1
A reported LG partnership could arrive later
Macworld, citing Gurman’s reporting, says Apple has worked with LG on a doorbell, smart lock, thermostat and security cameras. The accessories would reportedly carry LG branding, with LG handling manufacturing and support. According to that account, availability could follow the announcement by several months. 5
There is an important limit to the supporting evidence: Macworld notes that the regulatory filings discussed in the report do not mention Apple. They should not be read as independent confirmation of Apple’s participation or an October 13 launch commitment. 5
What October 13 needs to settle
The date and invitation are established. Apple still needs to identify the products, explain how they work together and announce prices and shipping dates. Until those details are public, the reported hardware lineup remains a preview of possible announcements. 1 4 5
