Claude adds data dashboards and editable animations
Anthropic’s October 8 update launches Dashboards and Motion in beta. The tools have different plan requirements, and Enterprise owners must enable them.
Claude’s October 8, 2026 update adds two ways to turn work into something visual: Dashboards for exploring connected data and Motion for making short animations. Both launch in beta, with different plan requirements. Anthropic also removed the beta label from Docs, Slides and Design, making those tools available across its plans, including Free. 1
Dashboards show the query behind the chart
With Dashboards, users connect a data warehouse or another supported app and describe a question in ordinary language. Claude writes SQL queries and builds charts from the results. Supported examples include BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake and Salesforce. Each chart exposes its query and its latest refresh time, giving users a way to inspect what a number represents. 2
Anthropic describes the feature as a starting point for quick, exploratory questions. Users can request changes such as a regional filter or a different time interval, and take deeper analysis into another tool. Dashboards count toward the existing plan’s usage limits. 2
Motion makes editable animations
Motion builds animations from code that moves text, charts, shapes and images. It is designed for material such as an animated report or product walkthrough. Anthropic says it does not use a video-generation model to create realistic footage or people. 3
Users can revise an animation in the editor or ask Claude to change a number, word or timing, then export it as an MP4. Longer or more elaborate animations can consume more of a plan’s usage allowance than an ordinary message. The result begins private to its creator. 3
Who can use the new tools
Dashboards is in beta on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only. Both are off by default for Enterprise organizations until an owner enables them. Motion is enabled by default on Team. 2 3
Docs, Slides and Design are available on every plan, but Enterprise organizations have a separate rollout detail: their default activation is scheduled for October 15, 2026, with owners able to enable them earlier. Artifacts also require cloud code execution and file creation to be enabled. 4
Review before sharing
A visible query provides a useful checking step: inspect whether it counts the intended data before circulating a dashboard. Sharing also depends on organizational controls. Anthropic’s admin guide says artifacts using connected apps cannot use the “Anyone with the link” option. 2 5
